Using a crypto card for online payments

A virtual card can be useful for eligible digital purchases, subscriptions and merchant checkouts. The key is to choose the plan carefully and confirm the current terms before payment.

Card acceptance is always decided by the merchant and payment network. A plan’s stated limit or supported payment method does not guarantee that a particular transaction will be accepted.

Start with the payment, not the headline

Before applying, think about the type of purchase you need to make, the expected amount, whether it is recurring and whether you need a mobile wallet. Those details make it easier to choose between a basic online-payments plan and a plan that lists broader mobile wallet support.

TWCards presents three plans with different issue fees, service fees, terms and stated monthly limits. Comparing these points before you apply is more useful than choosing solely by card color or a single advertised price.

For a first online purchase

Standard has a $1 issue fee, no listed monthly service fee, a 12-month term and a stated monthly limit of up to $4,000.

What “up to” a monthly limit means

A stated monthly limit is a plan parameter, not a guarantee that every payment will go through. A transaction can still be affected by available balance, merchant category, risk controls, issuer rules, the payment network, regional restrictions or other requirements shown in the official flow.

For that reason, avoid relying on a new card for a time-sensitive payment until you have confirmed its issuance and current availability.
