Create a simple record
Keep a small list of subscriptions with the merchant name, amount, currency, renewal date and cancellation location. This makes it easier to spot an unexpected charge and decide which services you still want to keep.
Review before each renewal
Check the card status and whether the planned amount is available to the card. A wallet balance and a card balance may not be the same. Also check whether the merchant has sent a price-change or renewal notice.
If you no longer want the service
Use the merchant’s published cancellation process first and retain confirmation. Available card controls can help reduce risk, but they are not a substitute for properly cancelling an agreement with a merchant.
Recurring charges can fail or be retried under merchant rules. Check the merchant’s terms and current card information before relying on a card for a renewal.
